Celebrate the abundance in our community by sharing a locally grown meal while we discover what regional farmers are growing in our own backyard.

This celebration will offer the community a chance to interact with local farmers, hear first hand accounts of the challenges and rewards of growing food in southwestern Montana and learn about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) as a solution to food security issues.

CSA is a program that allows farmers a sense of financial security by receiving money from shareholders upfront to purchase seeds, supplies etc.  CSA’s allow us to interact and form relationships with the people who grow our food.  In purchasing a share you receive a box of produce each week in the summer and the peace of mind that goes with supporting local.  CSA’s are growing in popularity across the country and we are lucky to have so many farmers adopting this practice here in the Gallatin Valley.

Join us for a lively panel discussion

What is Bioneers?

Founder Kenny Ausubel coined the term Bioneers in 1990 to describe an emerging culture. Bioneers are social and scientific innovators from all walks of life and disciplines who have peered deep into the heart of living systems to understand how nature operates, and to mimic "nature's operating instructions" to serve human ends without harming the web of life. Nature's principles—kinship, cooperation, diversity, symbiosis and cycles of continuous creation absent of waste—can also serve as metaphoric guideposts for organizing an equitable, compassionate and democratic society.

Each October in San Rafael, CA, the Bioneers come together as a group of leading social and scientific innovators to share stories, present model solutions and network with each other.    To stimulate and enhance these efforts on a local level, Bioneers beams a simultaneous broadcast of the Conference plenary talks to some 20 sites around the country. Those local sites view the national speakers and produce their own workshops based on local/regional issues and organizing needs.

This year will be the 20th Anniversary of The Bioneers Conference to learn more about the national organization please visit The Bioneers at www.bioneers.org

2009 will be the 7th year Bozeman has been host to the Northern Rockies Bioneers Conference.  We are excited to be able to bring this amazing conference to our bioregion and, as always, look forward to the great gathering of presenters, activists, educators, children, and citizens to get inspired, to connect with one another and to create social change in our world.
